I just wacth CSI and they have some case related to the E-waste. I thought the E-waste story was made up for the TV. To my curiosity, I googled the term Guiyu E-waste.

To my surprise that place really existed, it is in China. People are dying there suffering from the waste. Below are the full report from Time Magazine
